While we all would like to believe that when a patient sees a care provider, beliefs, emotions and morality don't influence the care provided and the care received, that is not the case. In fact, we would be naive to assume anything less than a complex matrix of underlying structures based in emotion and morality, personal and societal values holding up any social structure, including healthcare and in many cases, science and evidence too. It is important to keep in mind that these are the systems we have to work with (education, economies, government, healthcare, food systems, etc) and that our role is to understand the best possible ways in which we can interact with and benefit from...
